Term 1

You Can Do It

In this unit children will investigate a number of factors that contribute to maintaining a happy, healthy mind and body.  This includes diet, exercise and emotional wellbeing (resilience, self awareness, self esteem, cooperation, individual differences, and stress management).   Children will then utilize the information gained to set personal goals in a journal to achieve a happier, healthier mind and body. 

Term 2

Days and Knights

In this unit children will investigate life in the middle ages and how it compares to their life today. Children will then utilize the information gained to design and construct a catapult, participate in a Medieval Day and write an adventure story.

Term 3

Extreme Ecotours

As an adventurer, children join a two month expedition going into the unknown territories of a rainforest.  Students will create an action plan for rainforest protection, research a rainforest animal to write an information report and use accelerated co-operative learning to investigate rainforest characteristics.

Term 4

Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!  OI! OI! OI!

Isn’t it great to be an Aussie?  During this unit students investigate what they think it means to be an Australian and discover some of the unique environments and animals found within our country.  Students also explore Aboriginal culture and write their own legend.
