Extra Curricular Activities

World Vision- Tinana students have a 'World Vision'. Each year students in Years 5,6 and 7 volunteer to participate in World Vision's Famine Fighters-the primary school version of the 40 Hour Famine. The children do a great job raising money for needy children in other countries. For the past two years Tinana has been the highest fundraiser for all primary schools in regional Queensland.

Student Council- Tinana students participate in a 'student council'. The representative students are elected from years 5-7. Their job is to help voice the other students' opinions, fundraise and develop projects that would be of  benefit to the students in the school. They also help with special events that take place within our school. 'Student Council' meetings are held once a fortnight during lunchtimes. Some of the activities that 'student council' have organised are Disco's, Bad hair days and Sausage Sizzles.

Rec Sport- Years 5-7 participate in a number of different sports on Friday afternoons when there is no interschool sport. These sports include: Lawn Bowls, Tennis, Dancing, Archery and Orienteering

Choir - Students from years P-3 are able to participate in junior choir. Students in year 4-7 have the opportunity to participate in our senior choir. The students practice one lunch time each week and they are assisted by interested staff members.

String Ensemble- Students from year 3-7 are able to participate in learning a string instrument once a week with our visiting string teacher. The String Ensemble performs at various events throughout the year.

Concert Band- Students from grades 4-7 also have the opportunity to learn a brass, percussion or woodwind instrument. They have lessons during school time one day each week with our visiting concert band teacher. The concert band also performs at various events throughout the year.

Information, Communication Technology The teachers and students at Tinana are continually increasing their skills in the area of ICT. Staff and students use a variety of programs to create presentations and to complete and present work. Some examples include movie maker and power point. Teachers and students utilise a range of technological tools to enhance their learning. These include Digital Whiteboards, Computers (PC and Laptops), Digital cameras, Video cameras and Digital microscopes. Students are taught to use online learning tools such as, Chat rooms, Learning objects and Forums. Students are learning about technology as well as learning with technology.
LOTE  Frau Lindner  teaches German to Years 6  for 45 minutes, twice a week. 

Frau Olds teachers German to Year 7 for 45 minutes, twice per week.

Jolly Phonics Jolly phonics is a multi sensory literacy program. Grades 1 to 3 participate in this program to learn the skills involved in basic reading and writing.
